Shareholders' meeting approves 2023 Financial statements

16 maggio 2024

The Shareholders' Meeting of TRM, held under the chairmanship of Alessandro Battaglino, approved the 2023 Financial Statement, with an EBITDA of over 79 million euros and a net profit of approximately 39 million, in line with the company’s performance history after the strong revenue growth recorded in 2022 due to the exceptional rise in energy prices.

In 2023, the company allocated approximately 3.6 million euros to investments, mainly used for infrastructure works and plant and process improvements. The quantities of waste delivered remained almost unchanged (about 599 thousand tons, 4 thousand less than in 2022), while annual electricity production stood at 412 thousand MWh, corresponding to the needs of about 182 thousand families. In addition, 138 thousand MWh of thermal energy was supplied through the district heating network, capable of heating 9,900 homes.

These figures confirm TRM's significant contribution to environmental sustainability, in line with the shared objectives of the Iren Group, which has positioned decarbonisation as a key pillar for building the future. The Shareholders' Meeting also approved the distribution of a total dividend of approximately 36.7 million euros to the company's shareholders, which include, apart from the industrial partner, primarily local municipalities, allowing them to directly benefit from these positive economic results.

TRM CEO Giusi Di Bartolo stated: “We are very satisfied with the results achieved in 2023, not only in economic terms, but also for the plant's environmental performance, confirming how the technology applied in TRM is able to combine industrial efficiency with sustainability and strong focus on the environment”.

TRM President Alessandro Battaglino stated: “The 2023 results confirm the importance of this plant for the territory and its strategic role in the integrated waste cycle. Our commitment to involving local stakeholders remains steadfast, also through communication initiatives aimed at the public, like hosting visits to the plant. Over the past year, we hosted more than 4,000 visitors of all ages, a sign of renewed interest in the cutting-edge technology of a plant that stands out at a European level and provides effective solutions for waste management."
