‘Mi abbatto e sono felice’: a show dedicated to schools'

23 gennaio 2025

On Wednesday, January 22, the Turin waste-to-energy plant hosted the theatrical performance ‘Mi abbatto e sono felice’ (Lower impact and I am happier), an ironic eco-sustainable monologue. The show explored how we can find happiness while reducing our environmental footprint on the planet.

Written and performed by Daniele Ronco, and produced by Mulino ad Arte and Teatro a Pedali, the show was self-powered. In a completely darkened room, the protagonist performed his monologue on a bicycle, switching on the stage lights only through the physical effort exerted, thus eliminating the need for conventional energy sources.

The event, which was free of charge and attended by 180 secondary school students from Turin and the surrounding area, was organised by TRM Gruppo Iren in collaboration with Eduiren, and highlighted how art and technology can work together to spread the values of sustainability and the circular economy.

The performance also served as an opportunity to reflect on how each of us can contribute to limiting our impact on the environment through everyday actions, as well as through the possibilities offered by technology. This emerged during a debate that followed the show, attended by the TRM top management.

All participants were also invited to tour the waste-to-energy plant to learn about its operations and its role in the integrated waste management cycle. The visit opened up a reflection on how lifestyles and processes of active citizenship can play a positive role in achieving ecological transition.
